October 19 - Halloween Party!

This past year we really got into Halloween.  I've never been a huge fan of the 'holiday' but it was just something that progressively got more and more fun as the boys got into it.  Next thing we knew we were throwing a party and having the best of times.  I think we've even discussed making it a yearly event at least until the kids get older and don't care to do so anymore.  We had a lot of the families that play a roll in our everyday life.  It was a house full of fun.  Costumes, kiddos, new babies, dear friends.  It was awesome!

The pinata was one of my favorite parts of the party.  I was really trying to think of ways to 'trick' the kids at an age appropriate level.  The kids had all been exposed to the experience of a pinata.  They all knew that it was full of candy and thoroughly enjoyed and anticipated the breaking open and candy flying.  Instead, I decided to fill it with plastic spiders!  So when the pinata finally burst after their hard work, out fell spiders.  Their faces were priceless.  I'm so sad that I missed out on capturing the whole thing.  But oh well.  After the shock and disappointment was clear, I threw a bowl of candy down to reignite their love of pinatas!

I really wish I had taken more time to do more festive food and snacks as the Frankenstein pudding cups and the mummy juice boxes were so fun it had me wanting more!

One of my other favorite parts was assembling the jack-o-lantern goodie bags.  They were so cute and full of fun little Halloween goodies.

But because we had SO MANY new babies there, I decided to buy cheap onesies from Walmart and custom make each babe under 1 their own Halloween onesie.  They turned out adorable and had the kids' names across the back.

Another age appropriate game played was pin the smile on the skeleton.  Was super cute watching the kiddos work through this!

In my 31 years of existence I can't remember one time that I've seen my parents dress up to celebrate Halloween.  When dad got out of the car dressed like Waldo I busted a gut.  It was the perfect simple costume.  Sadly, the kids weren't able to get who he was but loved the participation all the same!  Funny what the power of grandchildren can do to a person!
Can't wait for this years shebang!
