Time Lapse

Can you even believe it's been 4 months since I've last updated this blog?!  It's embarrassing actually.  I'm ashamed and unhappy with myself.  Life just got SO busy.  And time just went SO quick.  How is that even possible?

Where I left this blog was our last trip to California at the end of August...and would you believe me if I told you I am only finding time to look at these photos now?  It's crazy.  I haven't even had a chance to open them up and browse them.  It's happening.  And it's happening in the next few days!

I will get back on here slowly but surely and update you as to all that has been happening with us over here.  Unfortunately, nothing stands out aside from the normal work, preschool, skating, swimming, etc.  But it's been enough to keep us busy.  In October and November alone I saw 26 families for the Fall Promo, 240 families for Preschool photos and 50 for Christmas Promo photos.  Those numbers don't even include my regular scheduled shoots.  It was a blur of a couple months and 100% is the ultimate reason I haven't gotten to my personal updating.  But I'm back.  And 2015 will be a better effort than the past four months!  I promise!

As I process the holiday and start working my way forward, I thought I would post these few photos of the boys spreading some Christmas cheer on the weekend.  We hand delivered cards and small gifts to some neighbors and a couple others in the close proximity.  I love this time of year, and although getting gifts is something that a 2 and 4 year old is looking forward to, I want to do my best to show them that giving is just as fun!

Saskatchewan Road Trip

On August 12, we drove out to Saskatchewan to see Trev's parents' new house.  It was a long drive and a short stay.  We were able to take in a bit of time at the lake on the Wednesday morning, but the mosquitoes sure made it harder to enjoy it!  Why do they have to ruin all the fun!?  Izzy was great on the road trip and a lovely guest, we were proud.  It was nice for the boys' to play with their cousins, and Jackson got to fulfill a dream of his, I'm sure.  He got to drive a skid steer loader.  He was chatting about hydraulics and how to steer for days.  What a lucky boy.  Sawyer was too scared to go for a ride, but that doesn't surprise us - he's our hesitant one!

Water FIGHT!

These photos are from August 11!  There is a story behind the water sprayers that will have to wait for another time, but all you need to know is that the boys LOVE them a water fight!  And you know who else loves a water fight?  Ms. Izzy!

The waterfight turned into a hydrate Izzy fight.  She LOVES water and I'm sure thought this was just the best game they've ever played together!

Right now we are in California and looking at these photos of Izzy makes me miss her...I want a cuddle.  I hope she's having fun.

This was Jackson's 'Transformers stance' while watering the flowers!

Photos like these are hands down my favorite.  Just the boys being the boys in their own element doing what they love.  I love that.  These are the moments I will value the most when looking back.

August 9 Recap!

I am so behind on here and summer is almost over.  How crazy is that?

This post all started when I had a dream.  A strange dream.  I dreamed that I was floating down the river on a raft and we passed a group of people and they were somewhere awesome.  I yelled out to them to see what the park was called and they yelled back 'Floden'!  'Floden?' 'YES FLODEN!'  The first thing I did when I woke up was look up Flodin Park and sure enough there was a Floden Park in Edmonton.  And it turns out, it's where my dad grew up.  Who knew?  How cool is that!

While we were there, we called Papa, because we knew he grew up in Beverley. He then sent us on a bit of a treasure hunt to the houses he grew up in.  Park and walk aside - I think this was the boys' favorite park of the outing.  They are now all about asking people where they grew up.  We have an address for Nana's old house too to visit when we get back.

Papa lived in this home from when he was about 4 years old to 7 years old.  His dad helped build the house and it was one of the first houses on the street with in-home plumbing.

He lived in this house down the street from the age of 7 til about 16 years.  His dad also helped build this house.  These houses were some of the nicer on the street at the time and are actually in decent condition now.

Taking these photos and going through Papa's old neighborhood prompted stories of his childhood.  That was probably the best part.  I will have to have him write down!
