So, you worried followers out there wondering about Ms. Guilty's post-crime condition...
We have spent time talking to the vet and then continued to spend time on the phone with animal poison control (did you know they charge you $65 to ask a question??). All in all...zinc causes dogs to vomit (which we clearly discovered). The fact that she vomited right away is a good thing, they think it's good she washed it down with a lick or two of vaseline because it helped it come back up and coated her so she wouldn't have absorbed as much zinc. The amount of zinc in Zincofax is 15% and they don't become alarmed with the smaller dosages - usually it's about a concentrate of 40% that they begin to worry about.
All in all...she has been eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, and playing perfectly fine all day and outside of her vomiting episode earlier as noted, she has been her normal self. We were told that she may have diarrhea within the next 12 to 24 hours and that we should not allow her to sleep on the furniture just in case of leakage...yes, I said leakage!
All in all, she shouldn't have ingested it (obviously), but she is just fine.
The vet and poison control have given us the information we need should anything different happen.
The worst part now is trying to get it out of our carpets and watching Ms. Kia.
