Warm Weather

Warm weather will bring the creatures out of their shells around here!  We had a good dose of it today and we crept out of our house to play outside for a bit.  There were puddles, splashes, ice rocks, shoveling, and fun all around.  Weather was gorgeous and the boys were thrilled.  It's going to be hard to keep them inside for any length of time come summer, I just know it!

Family Day at Emily Murphy Park

We were invited on a little family day walk down at Emily Murphy Park and then a wiener roast to follow!  Really, I wouldn't pass up an offer from the Krompholz family - they're pretty fantastic!  Auntie Cole, Nana Selma and Papa Kurt are favorites around here.  The outing didn't disappoint!  We had a really great time.  I think Jackson smiled ear to ear pretty much the whole time while running from fallen log to animal track telling us about beavers and squirrels.  It was pretty great.   In typical Sawyer fashion,  he just sat back and took it all in.  I can't believe I've lived in this city all my life and haven't experienced all the trails it has to offer.  We really are so lucky to have such awesome outdoor walking trails down near the river.  The trail we walked today had several bird feeders along the way and these adorable little black-capped Chickadee birds that weren't all that shy.  We spent a lot of time holding our hands out trying to get them to land on us.  And by the end (after many Moose trials!), we were all successful except Sawyer, which is probably a good thing as I think he may have panicked and probably cried!  It was just so nice to be outdoors and to be taking our time to just enjoy the small things in life.  Jackson and Sawyer gathered a nice little collection of sticks - and I managed to keep it to just two making it back into the car!  And really, I don't think I've ever had a wiener roast in the month of February - ever!

This was probably the sweetest moment of the outing.  Sawyer standing with his arm out trying to be a part of what we were all doing.  I love how they pick up things so quickly!
Searching for a helicopter
Finally on the way back Moose was finally able to get a bird to land on him!  This was the only picture I was able to get of it because it lasted mere seconds if that.  The blurry thing on his hand is the bird flying away.  I think the feeling of the little feet startled Jackson!  His face is priceless!
This little guy wasn't shy at all.  He kept coming closer and closer.  Made me a bit nervous!
Jackson's first experience with a roasted marshmallow!
Sawyer being a total ham to get some spotlight attention!
That about sums up our morning.  The little Bear is now waking from his nap and it's about time to wrap up the quiet time in this house!  Enjoy your Family Day everyone!

Stir Crazy

I'm so happy the weather is starting to warm up for a few days because I was starting to go a tiny bit stir crazy and really wanted to get outside with the boys!  This morning after breakfast, we did just that!  And we invited Auntie Cole along, afterall - she lives so close - and maybe she was feeling stir crazy too!  Even if she wasn't, she said yes and we went out for a walk!

Our outing shortly turned into a snowball fight courtesy of Jackson!  He's such a good sport and loves being playful.  Sawyer, on the other hand, is more cautious and hesitant.  He likes to watch from afar before getting involved and then if things don't quite go his way, he has a reaction like below!

Honestly - this little walk was the best part of my day!  It felt so good to be outside.  It had me daydreaming about the summer months to come; walks, park time, backyard playing....ahhhh - how sweet it will be!  Mostly, I'm excited to have Jackson home for three months.  I miss the little fart when he goes to preschool and Sawyer just adores him to bits!  I hope you all are enjoying your long weekends.  Hopefully we will have some more fun adventures over the next two days :)  Maybe some toboganning?!  Who knows!
