Update

To say that this vacation has been a rough experience with Jackson would be an understatement.  He has never been all that fantastic at sleeping away from him - but this has taken it to a whole new level.  He has had the worst of worst nights here.  Up screaming several times in a night, crying every time we try to put him down, vomiting each night, finally last night I figured there must be something else going on because this was NOT my child.  This behavior is so unlike him; he rarely wakes up unhappy at home, and likes to play himself to sleep at night.  That is so not the case the past several nights.  It's been so exhausting, frustrating, embarrassing, and actually quite disappointing.  

 

So, we took him in to a clinic and it turns out he has a killer ear infection and was feverish.  It was also validated that Roseola/Baby Measels was what he was struck with this week.  So, basically the vomiting and not wanting to lay down is because of the pain he's been in with the pressure in his ear.  We have some antibiotics (again) for him and are hoping for more peaceful nights when we return home and he is surrounded by his comfort items.  

 

All that being said, he's gotten a lot of extra cuddles, attention, and sleeping on mommy or daddy time (to keep him upright for him to sleep with less pain) and we are worried we are going to have to break some bad habits when we get home.  However, right now - I'm thinking about the immediate, and that is getting him better and rested, and if that means resting sleeping upwards, than that's what we've been doing because the ear-piercing, painful screaming we were dealing with is just not comparable to a cuddly SLEEPING baby on your chest.  Wish us luck.
