Sickness

The bugs that have been floating around this winter haven't skipped our house by any means.  In fact, I feel like we've been hit harder than usual this year!  Maybe the illnesses are just getting more powerful!  Anywhos...Jackson got hit pretty hard last week.  It got so bad that I was worried enough to call Health Link, who told us to go in.  So we did...and it was exhausting.  They didn't know if it were a horrible flu bug or appendicitis.  We ended up going back the next day again.  After that he started to return to himself.  Thankfully it wasn't appendicitis.  And I'm very happy I have my bubbly boy back.  As much as I liked the cuddles, he was in so much pain and so out of it.  I've never been needed by him so much ever.  He literally just couldn't feel calm unless he was in my arms.  Poor buddy.  The worst part was Trevor was gone.  He always seems to miss some of these harder moments.  He was constantly checking in for updates and photos to see how he was feeling.  Maybe there is some comfort in being able to get a glimpse into what's going on for him.

Poor Bug.  The best part of sick kids in Edmonton is the Stollery.  They really are great there.  They even have their own Emergency Room for children now.  If anyone has had to go, they know that it is so much nicer to not have to be with all the other crazies that can end up in ER.  Thanks for all the concern and well wishes out there.  I assure you this little critter is feeling much happier and better!  The smiles, jokes, and independence are back!

Special thanks to Auntie Cole who came through for me when I really needed her.  She watched Sawyer both times I took Moose in and she helped out around here as it really felt like every time one needed me, so did the other.  And that is not all that usual around here.  So thankful for the help!

Sawyer Stands

Sawyer's been working on and get pretty good at standing.  He also loves to walk while holding our hands.  Hopefully (for my back) that means that walking is around the corner.  Although, if I'm being honest, I must say that there is nothing cuter than a sweet babe crawling around.  It is such a short phase.  Jackson will take off to do something and there you see little Sawyer bookin it crawl-style behind him!  I love it!  But nonetheless, so proud and so glad that I happened to be spying on him at the right moment!

iPhone Update

A quick update on the past few weeks :)

Some yummy chocolate cake at Costco.  I thought maybe these little samplers was why Moose loves it there so much...until I realized...
That it was really the forklifts!  He requested that we pause to watch them for as long as they were working!  And we often spend a considerable amount of time searching for them while we are there!
Jackson graduated from his swimming lessons which means that Sawyer bear gets his spot next session and he gets to move up to be alone with teachers.  So proud and a little sad!
We went and saw the Easter bunny.
Jackson made me this 'burger' out of his duplo.  I thought it was pretty clever!

Mooseism

Jackson is so funny and interesting all the time.  And he's a smarty pants and is becoming quite clever, which makes for some interesting dialogue.

This is one comment from about a week or two ago.
Me: 'Jackson how do you know Sawyer's your brother?'
Jackson: 'Because he's an Ackerman!'
Me: 'Alright then.'

Yesterday at lunch time.
Sawyer: Eating the last bit of food on his plate.
Jackson: 'Would you like some more, Sir?'

Today in the parking lot.
Jackson: Waving away at a lifted truck
Me: 'Who are you waving at?'
Jackson: 'Just my buddy, the monster truck'

Yesterday getting into the car.
Jackson: 'Climb through back, Mama?'
Me:  'No Buddy, we can't do that right now because the trunk is full'.
Jackson: 'Okay.  Kuna Tata'
Me: 'Huh?'
Jackson: 'Kunda TATA'
Me: 'What are you talking about?'
Jackson: 'KUNA TATA'
I guess once
I guess twice
I guess one last third time
Jackson: Huff 'Lion King Mama'
Me: 'Lion King?'
Jackson: 'Yes.  Lion King. Kuna Tata'
I get in the front seat and a light bulb goes on!
I get out and go back to his door...yes, literally jumped out with excitement!
Me: 'Hakunna Matata?!'
Jackson: 'YES' with the hugest grin!

FYI - for those who don't know or who have forgotten, Hakunna Matata means No Worries!

I LOVE THIS BOY!
