The Boys & Their Adventure

For days Trev has been talking about talking about taking Moose to see some tractors that we pass frequently while driving!  Last night was the night...I took a nap around 4 and the boys took off on a tractor hunt.  I am thankful that he took the camera with him!  Jackson is LOVING the camera...and loves to play with it...and take self-portraits!  Good thing baby "S" got him a lil present for their first meeting!  I have a hunch Moosey will like it!

Here are some shots from the adventure!!!

Self-Portrait!
My favorite!

Swimming and Self Portraits

A few nights ago Caitlin and I took Moosey swimming.  He LOVES the water and is completely fearless...which invokes the opposite feeling in me!!  He will just keep walking and walking and walking and even when it gets too deep, he wants to keep going - panic free!  Maybe he will be a little fish - I know I was when I was young!!

He was practicing kicking his legs!  All on his own...experimenting with what he can and can't do!

Afterwards while I was getting Moose dressed he wanted to play with the 'camera' (a new word I hear A LOT!).  He was way smarter than I gave him credit for and took some self-portraits!  Along with some odd videos!  I have no idea how to turn the camera from photo to video mode...but he figured it out!

Swim & Play DATE

Last week Moose and I hit up Terwilliger Rec Centre for some swimming and play time with his girlfriend Anna!  These two are pretty cute together...even when they start kissing.

We'll have to keep our eyes on these two!!!

FINALLY

Dear Lord...how ridiculously disconnected you feel when your internet stops working!  I've been waiting for Trevor to get home - and sure enough, within half an hour, it was up and running again.  You read that right - Trevor is home...and this house could not be happier :)

Now I will play a little catch up!

Since my last post...Jackson has (knock on wood) returned to his sleep habits...and we are four days into a cry-free nap & bed time routine!  What a difference it makes.  He also has given up his crying every time we came inside after enjoying outdoor play time - which is also nice!  He is definitely working out his emotions and he's managing them better than a week ago at this time - but who knows!  It's a day to day thing at this age I think!

I am still pregnant.  I am getting really sore and really anxious.  And now, to top it off...I've caught some sort of chest cold - which is really wiping me out considering the amount of time I've been flying solo over the past month and a bit.  In all actuality, I can't complain.  Trev and I were talking about how it seemed that I caught every bug known when I was pregnant with Moose, and this time - this is my first.  What an achievement!  My hopes is that Jackson doesn't catch what I have.  Our plan is for me to spend some MUCH NEEDED time in bed resting over the next few days.  I CANNOT WAIT.

I have missed Trevor so very much and my days and nights have been so very lonely.  Jackson has missed him too.  When we pulled up to the airport Jackson saw Trev before he spotted us - and it was "DADA DADA!"  Much nicer than the make-shy he usually plays!  And Kia had her usual freak out session when she saw him get out of the truck too!  It's good to be a family again.  I've missed this - and the past couple days have been a big struggle.

These are a couple videos that went with the photos from the post below...but I haven't been able to upload them because the internet on the computer stopped working right after my last post!

Splish Splash

This is what Spring is all about...

Yesterday Jackson and I found some rubber boots and a matching rain coat.  All I heard was BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS for a good part of the afternoon.  In fact, it was the first thing he found this morning when he came downstairs and he may have even worn them at the breakfast table.  He has an absolute blast being outside and really is just so happy being out there.  The only trouble with all of this fun is...the meltdowns that have now begun to ensue when it's time to come in the house!

Oh Boy...Moose is definitely starting to push boundaries and to test limits.  In the last handful of days he and I have not been seeing eye to eye on everything...and this includes bedtime!  Bedtime used to be one of the most seamless times of day, both at nap and night.  Not anymore.  Every time he throws a bit of a pity party for himself.  He first tries to distract me... 'book', 'door', 'water', 'tractor'...when he gets put in bed regardless he will protest in tears and screams for about 2 minutes before either playing in his crib or going straight to sleep.  It's the longest 2 minutes of my life and feels much longer...but, we have agreed if we don't stick to our guns now and be consistent and diligent, it will not get better - in fact, it will get much much worse.  But, listening to him cry has never been my strong point.  And...he's a puker...so I'm always weary of letting him cry because it has ended in puke.

Last night he pushed me way too far.  He was up at midnight complaining.  Me, being foolish, treated this as I would have two weeks ago when he was waking up wanting a small something to fill his belly and then returning to blissful sleep within minutes...OH HOW WRONG I WAS!  The second I stood up when he finished his drink, the tears started...it's now close to 1 am...and he does not want to go to bed.  I did not care.  It was friggin bedtime.  I let him cry...the result?  He puked in his crib.  Oh was I mad.  I bathed, changed bedding, and re-jammied without saying a word to him and without turning the lights on all the way (thank god for dimmers!).  The second he was going back to his crib - the crying started.  I didn't even care.  I left him.  For an hour and a half I listened to him cry on and off before he finally crashed.  Me?  I don't crash that easily, so I was up until 4:45 AM and boy am I tired and quite bitter!

As usual, I did some reading and even had asked the doctor about it yesterday.  We are not alone.  The doctor's actual words to me were 'welcome to the terrible 2s'.  I sure as hell feel all alone!  I've read that a lot of other kids his age are struggling with sleep time, with asserting their opinion and independence, and with being determined to not want to be away from the rest of the world.  Ugh...what a crappy time for all this to kick in!  I also read it often happens before big developmental breakthroughs which could also be playing a role - as his language development is just getting more interesting every day.  He has new words daily and recognizes and labels things that I had no idea he had a clue of.  It's pretty amazing...but I'd be more amazed if I was better rested...so Jackson, please go back to enjoying going to bed!

When does this phase end!?  Why do these things always happen when Trevor is away?  God forbid he ever have to deal with the power struggles, routine shifts, doctors appointments, or any other hard time!  Usually by the time he comes back, things have adjusted and worked themselves back out!  I'm not sure that will be the case this time...Moose seems pretty head strong on his new found independence...and I just hope my will power is stronger than his!!

These Boots...

Were made for exploring...

And that's just what they'll do...

One of these days these boots are gonna...

Explore their way to you!

These boots live on my front step!  They get talked about daily...called for in a longing fashion!  Jackson is all about being outdoors lately...exploring, walking, shoveling, playing.  These boots are now too muddy to live in the house...so they live on the step...and they sit and wait to lead a little boy to his next adventure.

Thank you boots...for being so special to Moosey!  So special that it is a fight to get ANY OTHER shoes on his little feet as he cries out 'boots boots' when other shoes get within a foot of his existence!  It's really like he thinks you are magical...and every little boy needs some magic now and again!

A Boy and His Tractors

This is how I caught Moosey watching tractors in our bed yesterday afternoon after his nap!

Sunday Errands

This is how we rolled this weekend!

We went to Cabela's to look for some rubber boots, but no such luck!  However, Jackson discovered an awesome tent with an even cooler chair in it...he did not want to leave!  Maybe finally we'll get into some camping this summer - we'll see how his baby brother does and decide from there!

Jackson & the Great Outdoors

There is nothing Jackson has loved more lately than being outside!  He LOVES the weather, the puddles, the mess, the snow, the walking - all of it!  I think it's going to be impossible to keep him inside this summer :)
This picture about sums Jackson up right now!  Totally in his glory!  On a walk outside, with his dada, and finding a TRACTOR!
Trev said he had to walk in ALL the puddles on the way home!  We are on the lookout for a cute pair of rubber boots and splash pants!
Then, Friday Trev and I went out to dinner with some friends while Moose hung with his Auntie C!  They built a little snowman in the front yard.  Totally Cute!

Helping with the snowman!
Getting down and jabbering with the snowman!  He's been doing this a lot lately...talking to the dog, approaching kids at Ikea and jabbering to them - one little boy looked at Trevor and said 'What is he saying!?' - Trev couldn't help him out!  It's so cute!  One day it will all make sense - to us too!!!
'Pounding It' with the snowman!

Still Pregnant!

Well, here it is - Sunday night - and yup, we are still pregnant!  I really was hoping for a productive weekend on the baby front while Trev was home...as he leaves tomorrow for another OT shift, which means he will be gone for 10 days!  I'm wondering if my body can make it!  I am starting to feel so very tired and so VERY sore.  Here is to hoping that all goes smoothly over the next week and a half...

In the meantime...

It's getting crowded in here...

My view!
Others' view!!
Can't wait to meet you BABY!  Ready and waiting...
