Secret Time!

So we have been keeping a very exciting secret from a lot of people since October 7th! As some of you know, we are expecting our first baby! We are beyond over the moon! We found out on October 7th in the evening and had our doctor's appointment on the 9th to confirm!

Now, this excitement hasn't come with its share of ups and downs! We have been struggling a bit through the first trimester with what is called a subchorionic hematoma - basically a blood clot between the uterus and placenta. It has caused me to be off work for almost a month now, but we are committed to doing whatever it takes to having this little babe make a safe entrance into the world! From what I understand, this type of problem often - but not always - resolves itself in the second trimester as the baby grows! I appreciate all the support and warm thoughts and well wishes we have received from those who do know. I believe that the positive energy has brought us great success!

It's been stressful and full of tears and confusion, but today is our 12 week milestone! We are over the moon and are shocked that we are a third of the way there. We have had two ultrasounds, and they both measured up great. The little babe is growing has a great heartbeat, and is already taking over my life!

I am so excited that I can now share all of this with everyone! Telling my parents was so fun and I think my brother is excited to buy the loudest toys that will drive us bonkers - but what are uncles for, right?!

We are wondering if this little babe will come out with either a Jamaican accent or dread locks! Hopefully it would be the previous option - the dread locks would scare me! I'm sure if neither of the above, it's first word just may be 'mon! So far the majority of people believe it is a girl...who knows?!

World, meet our Jamaican-made little babe...



Positive?! I think I must have taken about a dozen tests over the first few weeks! I was so afraid it was going to go away!! This is the one from the first night!


This is little babe at 7 weeks. It had a healthy heartbeat of 143 bpm! I can't believe how little it is. It looks like a peanut!

This is little babe at 10 weeks! Look at how much it's grown in just three short weeks! It amazes me! It's just laying on its back with its legs and arms sticking out! I love this picture! On this day, little babe's heartbeat increased to a healthy 173 bpm and measured right on at 10 weeks. Pretty cool!

Because of the higher-risk situation we are in, we are scheduled for another ultrasound on the 17th to check on the SCH. We are hoping and praying for positive results! We do have a doctor's appointment on Friday where they are going to find a heartbeat with a doppler. Very nerve wracking with all the stress, but I'm hopeful and excited to hear this little one's heartbeat for the first time. Thank god Trevor will be a part of this appointment as he's unfortunately missed both ultrasounds!

Catch Up! - DOG PARK!

I finally feel like I'm starting to catch up on this blog! Woo Hoo! So when Trevor and I returned from Jamaica, it's no surprise that we missed our Kia! We made a trip to the dog park - a beautiful fall day! These are just a few of my favs. I think she was loving having us home and being back at her dog park!

This picture makes me laugh EVERY time because I'm not sure what I'm doing! I think it's funny!

Our cake was beautiful! Debbie, from Deliciously Different, did an Amazing job! It was inscripted with "when my heart found you, it knew" which was how Trevor signed his letter to me saying we were sneaking away for a surprise weekend! On top of it looking Fabulous - it tasted great! I have a deep freeze full of it! Yum Yum! Trevor and I really had no idea how to cut the cake! It was an odd shape and we just went with it! He wouldn't let me do anything fun with it, so in our mouths it went!

Special People for Special Moments

We were so fortunate to have been surrounded by such great people! Our Mistresses of Ceremony, Sandi & Della, were FABULOUS! They were the perfect mix of seriousness and comedy. Trevor's Grandma Ackerman was sweet enough to say an Irish Blessing before our meal. So special...

First Dance as Husband and Wife!

Trevor dreaded this moment throughout the whole wedding process! All he could stress about was the first dance! He was so nervous, he was shaking. It was fun nonetheless. It seemed like it lasted FOREVER! I don't think either of us are big fans of front and center attention - especially with something like dancing! A great memory nonetheless!

Once we were safe in the field, we had a lot of fun. I only wish we had more time! It all went so quickly. I'm glad we chose to stay near the house...it made everything so convenient!

THE FALL

Now, it wouldn't be my wedding if I didn't somehow embarrass myself! I, true to my own klutz-style, had a nice little spill as we were going to the back field to get our wedding party photos taken! It was so funny. I honestly wouldn't take it back for anything! I worried about falling in the water or something more embarrassing, so I am somewhat grateful that it chose a much more suitable time and place to happen! After that all the gentlemen helped the ladies over the little hill! I wasn't even wearing my heals! Sheesh! My favorite part is that Nicole thought they placed me there for a picture, because she saw me laughing and thought 'if she fell, she would not be laughing!' - - - SURPRISE! I rolled with it, as I said, wouldn't have been a normal day without it! I also broke the train of my dress, which was a pain in the ass during the photos and especially first dance! I had to hold it! My mom fixed it later on...YAY for moms!!!!

I love this photo. He was so afraid to walk down the stairs! I was so nervous. This was the scariest part for me!


When I first saw this picture months after the day, it brought tears to my eyes. I remember that moment vividly of him lifting my veil to say goodbye. I was crying, he was strong!

This picture is magical to me...

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a daddy's girl! Since I was little, I think we shared our own little special world. It was a very special day for me, but the symbolism of my dad giving me away emotionally took a toll on me! I remember it was the part that was the most dreaded for me as I knew it would emotionally be the hardest. No one else was around I felt, just him and I. When he first saw me in the house, I asked him how I looked, and it was the first time in my life that I've seen my dad get choked up. He actually ran away! He didn't want us to see him that way! You don't run away from me in a moment like that!!! lol. He was a busy beaver that day - we had to remind him to eat and to relax! I think he enjoyed it all and it was a very special day for him and my mom as well.

So unlike us, who got ready at the house - where the stress of all the preparation was - the boys got ready at Trevor's and my house! They had time to go to Walmart, BBQ, play wii - I mean seriously!? haha. It was all flowers and roses until one of the groomsmen was MIA and it was time to get the show on the road! Then, the best man forgot socks and his speech, so that was another added stop! It all hit for them too! It's funny how things can be so calm and you're thinking, well this isn't so bad and then WHAM! I love it!

I loved this shot of my dress - waiting for me in my mom and dad's room.

I remember the morning of the wedding and the early afternoon very vividly! It was oddly calm. I remember thinking, this doesn't feel right! Where's the panic!? Where's the chaos?! As time progressed closer to 5:30, it all started to hit! Some of my favorite problems were:
- The missing groomsmen!
- The tangled balloons on our wedding signs (poor dad!)
- The VERY late bouquets for all of us girls!
- The late flower girl who had to get her hair done!
- Mom not being able to get her corsage on her outfit!

PANIC did set in, but still all in all it was calm. Everyone around me went by the 'what she doesn't know won't worry her' philosophy, so I didn't hear of some of these until afterwards! Thanks Nicole for the efforts and fibbing!!

The Incredible Tent!

My favorite part of this photo is how incredibly green the grass was! It looks fake, but it so wasn't! My dad is just that good! We contemplated whether or not to cut it and I am so happy we left it longer and lush...less prickly! So many of us kicked off our shoes and enjoyed the night!

I love the dark blue sky and tiny stars in this one...the tent just glowed! Sigh...fabulous!

You barely notice them in this picture, but the tikki torches were so pretty coming into the tent!

I have officially told my parents that they should quit their jobs and throw parties for a living! The tent and yard looked so fabulous! I really wish I had a picture looking out from the tent because when night fell and all the lights came on in the yard and in the pond, it was breathtaking! These are memories that I will never forget! This wedding was unlike any I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams!
