Drumheller Day Trip

On Wednesday we went to Drumheller.  Trevor had wanted to take a day trip there for the past couple weeks and had set this day up - so away we went!  It was nice to sneak away as a family but I think Trev and I were a bit disappointed with the experience as a whole.  Many of the outdoor things were closed due to weather and I think maybe Jackson is still too young to enjoy the 'cool' part of what can be read and discovered.  He's still at the 'LOOK' phase.  Which was still fun :)

This is how most photo taking with the two boys went - so I had to include it as it's very reflective of the ages!  Love it!
Jackson LOVED his shirt.  He kept telling random people that his dinosaur had running shoes and a hat - and would say 'that's pretty silly, hey?!'.  He's so fun!

Eating arms 'like a dinosaur'...

On the way home, we passed a place called 'Guzoo' (http://www.guzooforever.com).  I quickly googled it and had high hopes of baby tigers and bears.  But - I must say - it was a disappointment.  Ah well, it was worth a try.  We did see lions and tigers and camels and monkeys but they were quite mangey and it made you a bit sad that they were living in such small enclosures.  I will not lie I had high hopes of a 'We Bought a Zoo' experience.  It's not the same!

Instead of a baby tiger, Jackson got to hold a one week old baby goat!  He was happy :)

Apparently this dog hates everyone but this pig.  They are inseparable. I love that.

Feed one goat...
And become the most popular little boy!

Watermelon Growin'!

Watermelon is a favorite around here and so is doing mini experiments and watching plants grow lately SO when I saw this kit at Chapters, I had to get it!  We busted it out and planted it this morning!  Hopefully by the end of summer we will have our own small watermelon!  We will keep you posted ;)

They also have a four leaf clover kit!  If this works - I am absolutely going to buy the other one!

Ritchie Brothers Delight

So Trevor had this whole mini date planned for when he landed today.  The Ritchie Brothers Auction was going on in Nisku and that meant LOTS of cool tractors and machines and everything that a little boy names Jackson lives for.  So we went, and he was thrilled.

We even went into the Auction Halls.  It was pretty cool because they had it open to the outdoors and they would drive the trucks, etc through to the front 'stage' and the auctioneer just did his crazy auctioneer thing!  When it's sold, they stick an orange 'sold' pylon on it and it's on to the next.  Everything happens so fast and I couldn't catch on to what was going on!  It's all quite amazing.  I literally held Jackson's arms down at some points during his excitement because I was so afraid that we would be the not-so-proud owners of a gently used $47,000 service truck!  Eeeek!

All in all I love that I am married to someone who knows and loves these boys as much as I do and who takes the time to find and plan these mini adventures just for some added excitement and learning in our days!  This was a good one Trev :)

John Deere Boys

I think Jackson forgot about the Gator Tractor that lived at Nana and Papas.  It was a delightful surprise for him on Saturday night!  And Sawyer just loved riding shot gun!  I love those two together! The only downfall was Papa forgot to juice it up over the winter so it ran outta gas pretty darn quick.  Oh the disappointed!  Good thing patience is something that can always be practiced!  The new thing that I keep hearing about from Jackson is that he wants to 'Race with papa.  Me in gator tractor, Papa in big tractor!'!

This is what Mr. Moose is referring to racing...

I'll let you know if the race ever comes to be!
